Sunshine + Saltwater Brings Coastal Scents to Rehoboth Beach

If you’ve ever wished you could bottle up that perfect beach day feeling, Sunshine + Saltwater is bringing that idea to Rehoboth Beach.

The coastal-inspired fragrance and lifestyle shop celebrated its grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 4th, officially opening its doors.

Inside, you’ll find small-batch scents, beach-inspired gifts, and products made for your home, car, and body.

A New Stop on Rehoboth Avenue

Sunshine + Saltwater is all about bringing the beach into your everyday life, even when you are nowhere near the sand.

From its Rehoboth Beach studio, the brand handcrafts coastal-inspired fragrances and gifts designed to remind you of sunshine, salty air, summer memories, and that relaxed feeling you get when you finally see the ocean.

The shop is located at 406 Rehoboth Avenue, with parking available behind the store.

What You’ll Find Inside

When you walk into Sunshine + Saltwater, you’ll find fragrance products for your body, your home, and even your car.

The idea is to make the beach feeling part of your regular routine, whether you are getting ready for the day, setting the mood at home, or trying to make your commute feel a little more like a coastal escape.

The shop’s best-selling products include:

The Hair + Body Mist is meant to be an easy everyday beach scent, while the perfume rollerballs are portable enough for travel, gifting, or keeping in your bag.

The car diffusers are made for errands, traffic, and daily drives, and the reed diffusers bring long-lasting fragrance into your home without needing a flame.

The Wax Melt Dots are another fun option, with a strong beach-inspired fragrance and approximately 100+ hours of scent per tin.

Beach-Inspired Scents for Different Moods

Not every beach scent feels the same, and Sunshine + Saltwater leans into that.

Some fragrances are clean and fresh, some are tropical and sweet, some feel warm and cozy, and others bring in those beachy sunscreen vibes that instantly remind you of summer.

If you are shopping for body fragrance, some favorites include Beach Day, Sunshine + Saltwater, Chasing Sunsets, and Shake Your Bum Bum.

For home and car fragrance, customer favorites include Beach House, Beach Bum, Summer Daze, Driftwood, and Golden Hour.

If you do not know where to start, the shop can help match you with a scent based on what you usually like.

Made With Sustainability in Mind

Sunshine + Saltwater is also built around a more mindful approach to beach-inspired products.

The brand uses glass containers with minimal plastic components and focuses on small-batch production to reduce waste.

Its sustainability efforts include reusable and recyclable packaging, refill options, clean ingredients whenever possible, and thoughtful sourcing and packaging decisions.

The goal is to create products inspired by the coast while also making choices that help protect it.

The business is also a member and supporter of the Surfrider Foundation, which works to protect the world’s oceans.

Sunshine + Saltwater actively supports and collaborates with the Surfrider Foundation Delaware through donations and hands-on volunteer work.

Founder Michelle also serves on the Surfrider Delaware Executive Committee, supporting clean water, healthy beaches, and ocean-friendly living across the community.

The Meaning Behind Sunshine + Saltwater

Before it became Sunshine + Saltwater, the business was called 1st + 50, a name that connected Delaware, the first state, with Hawaii, the 50th state.

Both places are deeply personal to founder Michelle.

She is a part-time resident of Rehoboth Beach, married the love of her life on the sand at Deauville Beach, and even named her local home Ohana House.

Hawaii is also a big part of her story, since she grew up there in the 1980s after her father’s military career brought her family to the islands.

Over time, Michelle changed the name because Sunshine + Saltwater felt more connected to what the brand is all about: beach days, salt air, sunshine, and that happy coastal feeling people want to bring into their everyday lives.

The brand brings Rehoboth Beach and Hawaii together through products inspired by the coast, community, and the welcoming spirit Michelle sees in both places.

A New Beach Lifestyle Shop in Rehoboth Beach

With its grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony held on June 4th, Sunshine + Saltwater is now officially part of the Rehoboth shopping scene.

The shop brings together coastal fragrance, sustainable packaging, personal storytelling, and a love for the beach in one small-batch lifestyle brand.
