Midway Pickleball Receives Approval for Its First Phase
The Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission has approved the first phase of the Midway Pickleball project next to Midway Motion & Fitness.
The approved plans include an 18-court indoor facility with more than 55,000 square feet of playing space.
The building will also feature a retail area, a commercial kitchen, and a second-floor mezzanine for players and spectators.
A proposed second phase would add six more courts, bringing the entire complex to nearly 80,000 square feet if approved.
That portion of the project remains under review.
Commissioners asked the developer to consider moving the second building farther away from nearby homes and adding landscaping to help screen the property.
With up to 24 courts planned between both phases, the complex could become one of the largest indoor pickleball destinations in Delaware.

The Foreland Club Is Expanding to Rehoboth Beach
The Foreland Club is preparing to open its second indoor golf simulator location at 18806 John J. Williams Highway in Rehoboth Beach.
Its existing Ocean View club offers members access 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and the new location is expected to follow the same model.
Plans include public bays, memberships, and TrackMan technology that allows golfers to practice, train, or play whenever it works for their schedule.
Each TrackMan bay provides detailed swing and ball data using the same type of technology used by many top PGA Tour players.
Golfers can play more than 250 championship courses, focus on specific areas of their game, and review slow-motion video to better understand their swing.
The Ocean View location also offers lessons, club fittings, and events, which could eventually become part of the Rehoboth Beach experience.
The indoor setup is designed for serious practice, casual rounds with friends, and days when the heat, cold, or rain makes playing outside less appealing.
