Officials gathered last week to break ground on Vines Creek Crossing, a 150-acre development that will bring 584 new homes to the area.

The project marks a significant milestone for the town, coming just two years after Frankford annexed 263 acres of land into its boundaries.

What to Expect from Vines Creek Crossing

Led and built by Lennar Homes—known for communities like Plantation Lakes and Schooner’s Landing—Vines Creek Crossing will offer a mix of:

  • 264 single-family homes
  • 223 townhomes
  • 97 villas (two-story, semi-attached homes)

According to Lennar Division President Matt Wineman, the goal is to create a more affordable and accessible community for a broad range of residents.

Sales are expected to begin at the end of 2025.

Community Amenities

Future residents can look forward to a range of modern features, including:

  • Clubhouse
  • Swimming pool

A Boost for Local Growth

The development is a collaboration between Lennar and Double H Land Development, owned by Robert Horsey.

Horsey has worked on several other communities across the region and thanked the Town of Frankford for its support.

Town Manager Sheldon Hudson emphasized the importance of residential growth to the town’s economic development:

“You can’t have retail growth, restaurant growth, or employment growth without residential growth. You have to have the rooftops.”

Hudson also pointed out that managed development within Sussex County’s towns can help prevent urban sprawl.

“Allowing growth to happen around the existing towns is a win-win. The country stays the country, the town stays the town.”
