These local gatherings celebrate the heart of the community while offering fun and memorable experiences. Here’s a look at what’s on our radar:

Butterflies & Blooms

On July 24th, join the Delaware Botanic Gardens for Butterflies & Blooms, free with garden admission. 

This morning guided walk through the meadow teaches visitors how to identify backyard butterflies and understand the Monarch’s migration path. 

Learn how to support butterfly habitats and enjoy time with nature in a setting designed to nourish pollinators. 

It is open to both adults and children.

Aladdin Public Performance Tour

Enjoy a magical, family-friendly performance of Aladdin as part of the Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre’s free public outreach tour. 

This lively 45-minute show puts a playful twist on the classic tale, featuring two actors performing all roles, including a street-smart hero, a powerful genie, and an eager apprentice genie. 

Shows are held at various locations across Coastal Delaware, including libraries, parks, and vineyards, with no tickets required. 

Peaches by the Beaches

On July 26th, head to Hudson Fields in Milton or Peaches by the Beaches, an event packed with local fun and many yummy foods based on peaches from 10am - 3pm. 

Over 70 vendors and crafters will be on-site alongside fresh peaches, peach cobbler, and other treats, as well as goodies for sale to all attendees. 

Families can enjoy a petting zoo, inflatables, music by a DJ, food trucks, and a dog adoption booth hosted by Grass Roots Rescue. 

Entry is free, though some activities may include small fees to participate, but this is a local gem that everyone loves and finds to be a must attend once they go for the first time.

Beers & Bivalves at Chesapeake & Maine

Join Chesapeake & Maine in Rehoboth Beach on August 6th for a unique happy hour during Inland Bays Oyster Week. 

From 4p.m. to 6 p.m., sip on Dogfish Head beers and slurp locally farmed oysters with grower, Alan Davis. 

Besides being a fun, educational dive into Delaware’s aquaculture scene, this event is a great way to meet the people behind the region’s sustainable seafood movement.

Zap Pro/Am World Championship of Skimboarding

From August 8th to 10th, this three day competition in Dewey Beach is one that is talked about for weeks after its conclusion. The Zap Pro/Am World Championship of Skimboarding is happening again this year on McKinley Street. 

Amateur and professional skimboarders will compete in scheduled heats for medals, prize bags, and cash awards. 

The event includes beach music, a chill zone, and multiple community gatherings throughout the weekend all during the beautiful beach competitions of skimboarding. 

All registered competitors receive an event tee and lunch during competition days.

Flounder Pounder Open

The Flounder Pounder Open runs from August 13th to 17th, with team and individual angler registration open through August 10th. 

Weigh-ins take place daily at the Lagoon Stage, followed by Calcutta prize presentations. 

A total of 51 prizes are awarded, including a $100,000 first-place prize and daily cash prizes totaling $125,000. 

Participants must follow the full tournament schedule, including mandatory registration and captain’s meetings.

Rocking The Docks Presents: Kelly Bell Band

Get ready for a high-energy night of music on August 14th at 6pm as Rocking The Docks brings a stacked lineup to town. 

Headliner Kelly Bell Band, known for its genre-blending blues and dynamic performances, leads the evening alongside Lower Case Blues and Sweet Leda. 

With roots in Baltimore and a legacy that includes backing Bo Diddley, KBB promises a show that fuses funk, blues, and soul.

3rd Annual Shuck Cancer 5K

On August 17th, lace up your sneakers and head to Big Oyster Brewery for the Shuck Cancer 5K. 

This run/walk benefits Fighting Pretty, a nonprofit that supports women battling cancer with empowering care packages. 

Runners can enjoy post-race snacks, drinks, and an upbeat after party, all while supporting a great cause. 

It's more than a race, it's a celebration of strength and community hosted by a great local brewery in our area well known for its great events & hospitality.

86 Brewfest

86 Brewfest, hosted by the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Department, returns to the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center on September 27th from noon to 4pm. 

Enjoy bourbon, moonshine, and craft beer samples from regional breweries, plus food, raffles, music, and giveaways. 

Attendees can vote for Best in Brew, Best IPA, and Best Beard as local brewers compete for bragging rights. 

All proceeds benefit the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company’s equipment fund.

Dogfish Dash

The 18th annual Dogfish Dash returns to Milton on September 28th with a fun twist, this year features both a 5K(ish) run and a brand-new 3K walk for people and pups. 

Participants can expect a festive atmosphere, creative costumes, and plenty of post-race beer and activities at Dogfish Head Brewery. 

All proceeds support the Sussex County Land Trust, helping to preserve open spaces all around our towns in our local area. 

Whether you’re running, walking, or cheering from the sidelines, it’s a feel-good way to end the month and gear up for all things fall in our area.

Southeastern Delaware Artists Studio Tour

On November 8th and 9th from 10am to 4pm, explore the studios of award-winning artists throughout southeastern Sussex County. 

This self-guided tour invites visitors to meet local creatives, experience their workspaces, and discover new talent. 

The event has been a community tradition for nearly three decades, offering insight into the region’s vibrant arts scene. 

Don’t miss the Art in the Hat raffle, which 100% of the proceeds support local school art programs. To date, this raffle has raised and donated more than $67,775 to fill art teachers’ requests for supplies or equipment that will benefit their students here in our local schools.
