Mr. Hetfield's Rock & Roll Summer Camp at The Listening Booth

For kids who dream of being in a band, Mr. Hetfield’s Rock & Roll Summer Camp offers a truly immersive music experience right in Lewes. 

Hosted at The Listening Booth and led by legendary local music educator, Walt Hetfield alongside the wonderful instructor, sound engineer, and head of education, Nate McCormick, this camp gives young musicians the chance to step into the world of live performance and collaboration.

Throughout the program, campers form small bands, rehearse together each day, record both original and cover songs, and even perform live on real stages around town. 

It’s designed to feel like a real band experience, helping kids build musical skills while also gaining confidence performing in front of an audience. This immersive experience is designed for kids who want to play, perform, and grow in confidence — whether they’re brand new or already rocking out.

The camp welcomes vocalists and a wide range of instruments, including guitar, drums, keyboards, saxophones, trumpets, and other wind instruments. 

While there’s no formal audition, campers should already have a basic understanding of their instrument. 

For example, guitarists should know several basic chords such as G, C, D, E, and A, while drummers should have familiarity with a drum set, and keyboard players should be at least at a level two skill level.

One of the biggest goals of the program is helping kids who have taken private lessons or school band classes experience what it’s like to actually play music with others.

Cape Henlopen State Park Summer Camps

• Fantastical Beasts | July 13–17 | Ages 7–8 | $275

Kids search for the park’s most fascinating animals while creating creature guidebooks and imaginative “potions.”

• Operation CHSP | July 20–24 | Ages 9–10 | $300

Campers explore Cape Henlopen’s military history, visiting bunkers and towers while learning about Fort Miles.

• Sci-Fi Seashore | July 27–31 | Ages 7–8 | $275

Despite the name, the creatures are real. Kids discover horseshoe crabs, fossils, and other fascinating coastal wildlife.

• Budding Engineers | August 3–7 | Ages 9–10 | $300

This camp blends nature and problem-solving as kids design creative solutions to survival challenges inspired by plants and animals.

Sand Sharks Programs

For kids who want to stay active and improve their volleyball skills, the Sand Sharks Beach Volleyball Programs offer an energetic summer of training, scrimmages, and beach competitions. 

Held outdoors on the sand, these programs help players build strength, coordination, and teamwork while enjoying one of the area’s favorite coastal sports.

The organization runs two main programs: Young Guns for ages 8–13 and a Club Program for ages 13–18.

The Young Guns “Littles” Program focuses on introducing younger players to beach volleyball in a fun and supportive environment. 

No prior experience is required, making it a great entry point for kids curious about the sport. 

Players practice three times a week during summer, on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 4-5pm, with optional mini tournaments on Mondays from 12-1:30pm.

The program runs throughout the summer season from April to September, with more frequent sessions scheduled once school is out. 

Campers work closely with experienced coaches and club players who help them develop core volleyball skills like footwork, hand-eye coordination, passing, and serving.

The full summer tuition costs $325 for new players, while returning players can take advantage of early bird pricing at $275 through March 22nd. 

Families also receive a $50 sibling discount, and tuition includes a Sand Sharks tank top.

For older and more experienced players, the Club High School Beach Volleyball Program (ages 13–18) offers a more competitive environment. 

Practices take place three evenings per week during summer from 5-7pm, along with daytime practices Mondays and Wednesdays from 10am-12pm. 

The program also hosts mini tournaments throughout the season and helps athletes prepare for local and travel competitions.

The Club program costs $475 for new players or $425 with early bird pricing, and participants receive a custom Sand Sharks training tank.

Hosted at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior (20276 Bay Vista Road), these camps run Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm, providing a full day of artistic exploration and collaboration.

The program offers two types of camps: Film Camps for ages 9–14 and Theatre Camps for ages 8–14, both designed to help young creatives build confidence, learn new skills, and work together to produce a finished project by the end of the week.

The Film Camps focus on the exciting world of video production. Throughout the week, campers learn what it takes to create a film from start to finish. 

They write their own scripts, work together as a production team, and gain experience both in front of and behind the camera. 

Along the way, they also learn filmmaking terminology, storytelling techniques, and how collaboration plays a crucial role in bringing a creative vision to life.

The 2026 Film Camp schedule includes four different sessions:

Pairadice Equestrian Summer Camp

Kids who love horses will feel right at home at Pairadice Summer Camp, a unique equestrian camp in Milton (26632 Equistar Drive) where young riders can spend their days learning about horses while building riding skills and confidence. 

The camp welcomes all experience levels for ages 6 and up, making it a great option for beginners as well as kids who already have some riding experience.

The camp runs Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm, giving campers plenty of time each day to interact with horses, learn riding techniques, and participate in barn activities alongside the camp’s beloved “four-legged furry professors.”

The 2026 summer schedule includes five camp sessions:
