Rehoboth Beach to Offer Free Spring Bulk Cleanup for Residents

It’s time for spring cleaning, and the City of Rehoboth Beach is ready to help residents dispose of bulk items safely and efficiently. 

The annual free bulk pickup will take place next month, providing an opportunity for homeowners to clear out large, unwanted items.

Bulk Pickup Schedule

  • Southside, Schoolvue, and Scarborough Avenue Ext. will be taking place Monday, April 28th – Friday, May 2nd
  • Northside will be taking place Monday, May 5th – Friday, May 9th

City crews will pick up bulk items daily throughout the workweek in the designated areas. This service is available free of charge to residential property owners.

Guidelines for Bulk Pickup

To ensure a smooth collection process, residents should follow these instructions:

  • Place items at the curb no more than 24 hours before scheduled pickup.
  • Keep items within your property line and on the same side of the street.
  • Ensure bulk items do not block sidewalks, traffic lanes, or other objects, such as parked cars.

Residents can request a special bulk pickup at other times of the year for a minimum fee of $75, and by calling 302-227-6181, ext. 123, to gather more details on specified pick up dates and times.

Accepted Bulk Items

Residents can dispose of the following items during the bulk pickup event:

  • Appliances (must have refrigerant removed by a professional)*
  • E-waste (e.g., televisions, computer monitors)
  • Universal waste (household batteries, fluorescent light bulbs under 4 feet, cell phones)*
  • Furniture and mattresses
  • Tires (maximum of 5; no rims)
  • Junk and general household clutter
  • Lumber, pipes, and trimmings (no more than 4 inches in diameter and 5 feet in length)

*These items should be placed separately from other bulk waste.

Items Not Accepted

The city will NOT accept the following:

  • Commercial waste
  • Dirt, rocks, bricks, or concrete
  • Lawn, tree, or shrub trimmings, or any gardening removal waste
  • Glass panes (unless broken into pieces, placed in a hard plastic container or cardboard box, and labeled “glass”)
  • Vehicle batteries and auto parts
  • Household garbage, hot ashes, or hazardous waste (e.g., paint, oil, chemicals, etc.)
