A Festive Rehoboth Tradition Returns
The Rehoboth Beach Easter Bonnet Bar Crawl will take place from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 4th, rain or shine.
The Rehoboth Beach Bears are putting on the event, which asks people to wear their best Easter bonnets and spend the afternoon going from bar to bar in the town.

The day begins with a photo op at 12:45 p.m. on the boardwalk at Above The Dunes, giving everyone a chance to show off their looks and kick off the festivities together.
From there, the group continues on to several stops, including The Purple Parrot as stop number two, before wrapping up at Aqua Bar & Grill.
The final stop is especially exciting because Aqua Bar & Grill will host the Bonnet Contest at 4:30 p.m.
First prize is over $100, which adds an extra reason to get creative with your headwear.
People are welcome to wear bonnets, but anyone can come to the event, so it's easy to join in on the fun.

More Than Just a Bar Crawl
While the Easter Bonnet Bar Crawl is clearly meant to be a good time, it also serves a bigger purpose.
This fundraiser benefits the Rehoboth Beach Bears High School Scholarship Program, helping support students as they continue their education.
That community focus has been a major part of the Rehoboth Beach Bears mission for years.
The organization was formally established as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) in 2016, after the success of its early events made it clear there was strong interest in building something lasting and meaningful in Rehoboth Beach.
The group’s mission centers on creating inclusive fellowship and fraternal opportunities while raising money for charities that support community betterment.

The Story Behind the Rehoboth Beach Bears
In 2014, a small group of people came together with the idea of creating a Bear Weekend in Rehoboth.
Their vision went beyond simply planning a fun weekend.
They wanted to showcase what they loved about the town, support local businesses during the off-season, and build a stronger network of people committed to helping the broader community.
After the first Rehoboth Beach Bear Weekend in 2015 was such a success, it became clear that the event had real staying power and deserved a stronger organizational foundation.
Since then, the Rehoboth Beach Bears have continued to grow their impact.
Their annual Bear Weekends have welcomed more than 1,000 members of the bear community and beyond to Rehoboth, generated more than $200,000 in economic development for the greater Rehoboth area, and resulted in more than 2,000 volunteer hours.
The organization has also made more than $15,000 in benevolent gifts and has worked to expand its charitable giving over time.

A Scholarship Program With Local Impact
One of the most meaningful parts of the Bears’ work is their scholarship fund.
In 2017, the organization introduced a scholarship program benefiting members of the Cape Henlopen High School Gay Straight Alliance.
In the last two years alone, $5,000 has been awarded to graduating seniors pursuing further education.
That history gives events like the Easter Bonnet Bar Crawl even more meaning.
What might seem like just a fun afternoon out is also part of a larger effort to support local students and invest in a more inclusive community.
