Now Open
Gaia Coffee Co.
Gaia Coffee Co. has officially opened its first permanent café and roastery on 2nd Street in historic downtown Lewes, just steps from Lewes Oyster House.
Already known for its small-batch roasts and mobile barista setup, the team has now planted roots in a space that feels both welcoming and intentional.
Specializing in pour overs, cold brew, and a full espresso bar, Gaia brings something unique to the local coffee scene.
Their beans are sourced directly from sustainable farms in Costa Rica and roasted in small batches for peak freshness. Whether you prefer whole beans or ground, you can even order their thoughtfully crafted coffee online.
What truly sets Gaia apart is its mission: to make coffee more meaningful, from farm to cup. At its core, the business was built on the belief that coffee should benefit everyone it touches, especially the farmers.
In an industry dominated by large corporations, Gaia is working to put power back into the hands of growers, even sacrificing profit to ensure farmers can thrive alongside them.
With every roast approached like an artisan craft, balancing flavor and character while honoring the journey from farm to cup, Gaia Coffee Co. is more than just a coffee shop, it’s a movement with heart, purpose, and seriously good coffee.

The Gallo Room
Hidden within the historic Walsh Building, The Gallo Room is Lewes’ new secret worth sharing. This speakeasy-style cocktail lounge quietly opened at the end of July, tucked just across the hall from Lewes Oyster House.
As the stylish sibling to Lewes Oyster House, it combines old-world elegance with playful eccentricity.
The team has transformed what was once unused space into something special: Dim lighting, exposed brick, whimsical feather fixtures, and gold rooster accents set the scene, while plush seating adds a nod to the 1930s. The result is an atmosphere that feels both moody and magnetic.
This 21+ spot is walk-in only and first come, first served, but guests can snag a spot early by joining the OpenTable waitlist.
Once inside, you can choose the lively energy of the bar or tuck away into a quiet corner to savor bold small plates and finely crafted cocktails.
The menu is built for sharing, featuring dishes like Korean-style cracklins, steak tartare, and vibrant seafood plates. Drinks lean inventive, standouts include the C’est Choux, a playful mix of amaretto, brown butter, orange, vanilla, and honeycomb candy.
Whether you’re stopping by for pre-dinner bites, a nightcap, or skipping dinner altogether, The Gallo Room is a little lounge with a lot of soul.
- Location: 108 2nd Street, Lewes
- Days and Hours: Monday-Thursday (5 - 10pm); Friday & Saturday (4 - 11pm); Closed on Sundays

Southern Delaware Brewing Company
Southern Delaware Brewing Company is preparing to make a big splash in Millsboro as the anchor tenant of the upcoming Mill Retail Center along Route 113.
This bold expansion would mark the brewery’s third and final Delaware location allowed under state law, joining its sister brewpubs, Ocean View Brewing Company and Thompson Island Brewing Company in Rehoboth Beach.
The Mill Retail Center is projected to span 17,000 square feet, with a 6,000-square-foot restaurant anchor, outdoor gaming areas, and retail shops.
Early estimates suggest the build-out could exceed $1 million, transforming the space into a lively commercial hub where locals and visitors can relax, dine, and play.
For SoDel Concepts, this move follows its big 2023 debut of Surf Bagel in Millsboro, continuing a pattern of growth in the community.
The new brewery and restaurant would not only represent an exciting next chapter for the brand but also provide a vibrant new gathering place at the heart of Millsboro.
