Nicola Pizza has officially opened its second-floor event space, the Nic Center, at its Route 1 location in Lewes.
This expansion comes a little over two years after the pizzeria relocated from downtown Rehoboth Beach to its newer location in Lewes.
A New Chapter for Nicola Pizza
Founded in 1971 by Nick Caggiano Sr. and his late wife Joan, Nicola Pizza has been a Delaware staple for decades.
Originally located on North First Street in Rehoboth Beach, the business expanded to a second location on Rehoboth Avenue in 2010 before consolidating operations in Lewes in October of 2022.
“We can’t wait to use it,” said Caggiano, noting the enthusiastic feedback from visitors and locals.
A Grand Opening with the Chamber of Commerce
The Nic Center hosted its first official event on March 12th, when the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce held its monthly membership luncheon there.
Chamber President and CEO, Carol Everhart, expressed gratitude to Nicola Pizza for allowing them to inaugurate the space, predicting it will become a popular venue for local gatherings and small parties.
A Special Debut for Sussex County Land Trust’s Executive Director
The luncheon also marked the first public speaking appearance for Sara Bluhm, the Sussex County Land Trust’s first full-time executive director who began her new role in January of this year.
Since the nonprofit’s establishment back in 2001, the land trust has helped preserve over 6,000 acres in Sussex County. Bluhm used the event as an opportunity to introduce herself, and encourage more public engagement with the organization.
Bluhm also reflected on the significance of being part of Nicola Pizza’s history, calling it a memorable experience.
