Golf season is bringing a strong lineup of tournaments to courses across Delaware and the Eastern Shore, with events scheduled in places like Long Neck, Millsboro, and Rehoboth Beach.
These tournaments are a great way to keep an eye on some of the best courses and club calendars in the area, whether you already follow the game or are just looking for fun events coming up in the area.
DWGA’s Bash to the Beach at Lighthouse Sound & Heritage Shores
This two-day tournament is a full experience, with play split between two well-known courses.
The Links at Lighthouse Sound in Bishopville will host the first round, and Heritage Shores in Bridgeville will host the second round.
Both rounds will start at 9am with a shotgun start.
It uses an 18-hole four-ball stroke play format, which means that teams of two compete using the better score on each hole.
The whole thing is run according to official USGA rules, with a very structured setup that includes signing in on the scorecard right after play and strict rules about things like using your phone during the round.
There are also gross and net winners, flight prizes, and closest-to-the-pin awards every day.
The tournament is limited to 52 teams and costs $500 to enter, so it's clear that it fills up with serious players looking for a well-organized, multi-course tournament.
- Dates: May 4th & 5th
- Addresses: 12723 St. Martin’s Neck Road, Bishopville & 1 Heritage Shores Circle, Bridgeville

The Classic at Baywood Greens
The Classic at Baywood Greens is more than just a tournament; it's a long-running event that has been going on for 21 years and combines golf with a good cause in the area.
The event will take place at Baywood Greens in Long Neck and directly benefits Beebe Healthcare's oncology services.
The money raised will go toward big purchases like a new LINAC machine and improvements that make the Tunnell Cancer Center a better place for patients.
It has more of a community-driven feel, where the day isn't just about playing golf but also about helping with something important happening in the area.
You'll probably see both regular golfers and people who came just to support the cause at this event.

Golf Classic at The Peninsula Golf and Country Club
Not only does this tournament feel like a full-day event because of the golf, but also because the schedule includes a whole experience around it.
The day starts with registration in the morning, and then at 11am there is a shotgun start in scramble format.
Dinner and awards come later in the afternoon, making it feel a little more social and fancy than a regular round.
The day before the event, there is also a Tap-In Reception at the Children's Beach House.
This part is open to more than just golfers and includes cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, live and silent auctions, and even a golf simulator contest.
On top of that, the club keeps a strict dress code for everyone on the course, so this is definitely one of those tournaments with a more upscale, country club atmosphere.

Women's Invitational at Plantation Lakes Golf & Country Club
The Women's Invitational at Plantation Lakes is one of those tournaments where you can have fun and play seriously at the same time.
There is breakfast in the morning, lunch at the turn, a cocktail hour reception later in the day, and even a playoff on Hole 10 to decide the overall champions if needed.
The format is a 2-best-ball of 4 shamble.
This means that all players tee off, the team picks the best drive, and then everyone finishes the hole from there.
The two lowest scores count, so there is a strong team element throughout the round.
There are also side contests built in, including longest drive and closest-to-the-pin challenges, plus extra add-ons like a bonus bundle with mulligans, putting string, and raffle tickets, which gives it a more interactive and fundraiser-style feel beyond the tournament itself.
- Date: June 7th
- Address: 20301 Charlotte Boulevard, Millsboro
Delaware Amateur Championship at Rehoboth Beach Country Club
This year is the 75th Delaware Amateur Championship, and the format is made for strong individual competition, so it feels like one of the more serious events on this list.
Only male GAP Member Club golfers with a handicap index of 6.0 or lower can play.
The field is limited to 120 players, so it is clear that this tournament is for experienced players who want to compete at a high level.
The championship runs as a 72-hole individual stroke-play event, with the field cut after the first two rounds so only the low 36 scores and ties move on to the final day, where the last two rounds are played with tee times based on score and the leaders going out last.
There is also a lot at stake besides the title.
The champion gets a full exemption into the 2026 U.S. Amateur, and the champion and runner-up both get local exemptions into the 2027 U.S. Amateur.
- Dates: June 22nd-24th
- Address: 221 West Side Drive, Rehoboth Beach

Chris O'Halloran Memorial at Plantation Lakes Golf & Country Club
The Chris O'Halloran Memorial feels like a golf tournament that is just as much about raising money and bringing people together as it is about golf.
Breakfast and a Bloody Bar that helps charity start the day, followed by announcements, an 18-hole shotgun start, contests on the course, comfort stations, and then an awards reception with a lunch buffet.
This makes it clear that the event is meant to feel like more than just a round on the course.
The entry fee is based on the number of players or teams, and there is also a strong sponsorship side to it.
There are different levels of sponsorship, such as title sponsorship, beverage sponsorship, hole and sign sponsorships, all of which go to support Tuesday's Children.
Because of that, it seems like one of those tournaments where people come not just to play, but also to support a good cause and be part of something bigger than the game.
