Milford has officially broken ground on the much-anticipated Milford Corporate Center, a project that has been in the works for years.

Local and state leaders, including Governor Matt Meyer and Lt. Governor Kyle Evans Gay, gathered to celebrate this milestone, which is expected to bring over 1,300 jobs to Kent County.

A Vision for Growth

Located on a 182-acre site near Canterbury Road and Milford-Harrington Highway, the Milford Corporate Center is designed to be a hub for economic development.

Milford Mayor Todd Culotta emphasized the positive ripple effect the center will have on the community:

  • Job creation and economic stimulation
  • Improved medical services
  • Enhanced quality of life for residents

Outgoing City Manager Mark Whitfield highlighted the evolution of the project, noting that the land was originally zoned for residential use, but was ultimately redirected to support business development.

The city purchased the land in 2021 for $6.38 million, with the total project cost nearing $18 million.

Funding support includes $1.1 million from Site Readiness Funds, and $5.05 million from the Transportation Infrastructure Investment Fund.

The Milford Corporate Center aligns with the city’s long-term strategic plan. In 2017, Milford introduced the Vision 2023 Plan, which prioritized business growth and leveraging state assistance for economic development.

One of its key strategies was the creation of a new industrial park—this goal now becoming a reality.

The development will not only accommodate new businesses, but also incorporate thoughtful design elements for consumers and customers to enjoy, such as walking paths and green spaces to maintain Milford’s aesthetic appeal for all visitors.

Governor Meyer praised the project’s significance, stating that it marks a transformation for Milford: “Today, we march forth to a future for Milford that is very different from its past.”

With nearly 2 million square feet of development potential, the corporate center is poised to be a game-changer for the region.
