If you like to have a few good ideas before the weekend, this is a great place to get them.

The Sussex Tech Drama Program presents “Freaky Friday” at Del Tech Owens Campus Theater

If you enjoy live theater with a fun, feel-good storyline, Sussex Tech Drama Program’s production of Freaky Friday sounds like a great one to check out.

Based on the well-known novel by Mary Rodgers and the popular Disney films, the musical follows an overworked mother and her teenage daughter who suddenly swap bodies and have just one day to figure out how to fix everything before the mother’s wedding.

That setup creates plenty of chaos, humor, and heartfelt moments as both characters are forced to see life from each other’s perspective in a much more personal way.

This version features Ava Maloney and Ella Soni in the lead roles, bringing the central mother-daughter dynamic to life in a story that mixes comedy with a real sense of family connection.

Rush Hour at the Beach at Raye of Light Studio

Rush Hour offers a creative experience that feels approachable while still giving you the chance to work on real painting techniques.

The class focuses on a bright beach traffic scene filled with floating vessels, all brought to life with acrylic paint and a bold, colorful palette.

One of the nicest parts is that the canvases are already pre-drawn when you arrive, so you can spend more time actually painting and less time worrying about getting the initial sketch right.

You will be creating four small 8 by 8 canvases that come together as one 16 by 16 piece, which makes the finished project feel especially fun and different.

The class is a good fit if you already enjoy painting with acrylics but still want some guidance with things like color mixing and adding depth.

Bill Boronkay - The Comedy Tonight Show at Dickens Parlour Theatre

Bill Boronkay brings the kind of comedy set that feels shaped by a long, unusual, and genuinely entertaining career path.

Before fully leaning into stand-up, he worked in radio and television, won five Emmy Awards during his sportscasting and hosting career, and somehow also built a running joke out of the number of places that fired him along the way.

That mix of professional success and self-deprecating storytelling seems to be a big part of what makes his material work, especially since his career has taken him from TV studios and major cruise lines to comedy clubs, corporate events, colleges, churches, and just about anywhere else comedy can happen.

Altogether, it sounds like the kind of show where you can expect a lot of stories and a sharp sense of humor.
