Big Chill Surf Cantina has the kind of laid-back energy that fits right into a Coastal Delaware day. 

Located along Coastal Highway in Rehoboth Beach, this full-service bar blends a casual beach lifestyle setting with live music, sports, outdoor patio hangouts, tropical drinks, and food from Shore Island.

A Rehoboth Beach Spot With a Surf Shack Feel

Big Chill Surf Cantina is located at 19406 Coastal Highway and is open daily from 12 p.m. to 1 a.m. 

Inside, the space is designed to feel like a 1970s surf shack, with a relaxed atmosphere and plenty of drinks to choose from. 

Outside, the patio and stage give the Cantina a bigger social feel, especially when live music or events are happening.

The place is casual, lively, and built around the kind of easygoing plans people actually want at the beach. 

Live Music & Events

Live music is one of the biggest parts of the Big Chill Surf Cantina experience. 

The outdoor stage hosts a wide variety of local musicians and bands, giving people a place to relax, unwind, and enjoy the sounds of Coastal Delaware’s local music scene.

Trivia Night Every Wednesday

Big Chill Surf Cantina also hosts Trivia Night every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. 

The event is hosted by TNT Games and is free to play.

Teams can test their knowledge, compete for bragging rights, and try to win a $50 gift card awarded to the winning team. 

Shore Island is also serving food during trivia, so it is an easy midweek plan for groups who want something casual and fun.

Full Moon Silent Disco Parties

For something a little different, Big Chill Surf Cantina hosts Full Moon Silent Disco Parties on select full moon nights. 

Upcoming dates include June 27th, July 30th, August 27th, and September 26th, with parties running from 9 p.m. to 11:59 p.m.

The event features beats by DJ Gregg and gives guests noise-canceling headphones with two different playlists to choose from. 

The headphones glow based on the playlist each person selects, so you can see who is listening to the same music.

There is no cover, and headphones are free to use.

Crush Out Cancer Supports Cancer Support Community DE

On Saturday, June 6th and Sunday, June 7th, Big Chill Surf Cantina will take part in Crush Out Cancer in partnership with Cancer Support Community Delaware.

During the event, the Cantina will donate 50% of all crush sales, including orange, grapefruit, and lemon crushes, to Cancer Support Community DE. 

The organization helps people impacted by cancer through education, support groups, programs, and community-based resources.

Big Chill Beach Club, the Cantina’s sister location, will also participate, giving guests another way to support the cause.

Drinks, Happy Hour, and Late-Night Specials

The drink menu covers the beach bar essentials, from draft beers, imports, domestics, craft brews, and non-alcoholic options to margaritas, crushes, classic cocktails, seltzers, teas, and ciders.

Happy Hour runs all day on Sundays and Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Specials include:

• $8 crushes
• $6 bombs
• $3.50 domestic cans or drafts
• $7 Surfsides

Late-night specials begin at 9 p.m. and change throughout the week:

• Mondays: Deep Eddy drinks and Mind Erasers. 
• Tuesday: Twisted Tea and Tito’s drinks. 
• Wednesday: green tea shots and crushes
• Thursday: Captain drinks
• Friday: selected draft discounts and a bartender’s shot 
• Saturday: tequila of the month shot

Shore Island Brings the Food

Food at Big Chill Surf Cantina comes from Shore Island.

The menu leans into easy, flavorful food that works well with drinks, music, and patio time.

Empanadas are a major part of the menu, with options like beef, Philly cheesesteak, chicken, BBQ ribs with mac and cheese, veggie, and marisco with shrimp, scallops, and crab. 

It also includes handheld wraps, carne frita, mofongo, pinchos, and the Don Papi Q Bowl with two empanadas over Spanish rice, fried plantains, and sauce.

The Puerto Rican-inspired flavors make Shore Island a strong match for the Cantina’s beachy, relaxed setting.

Industry Nights for Post-Shift Hangouts

On Mondays and Tuesdays, Big Chill Surf Cantina hosts Industry Nights from 4 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. 

It is designed as a post-shift hangout for people who work in the restaurant, service, and hospitality world, although the laid-back atmosphere makes it appealing to anyone looking for an easy night out.

The deal includes $4 draft beer or rail drinks, plus a token to redeem two empanadas for $8. 

With drinks, food, games, music, and a casual crowd, Industry Nights give people a place to decompress after work without needing a big plan.

Sip & Support Nights for Local Organizations

Big Chill Surf Cantina also offers Sip & Support nights from Monday through Thursday for organizations looking to raise money. 

During the event, the organization receives 10% of proceeds from participating guest checks.

Guests need to show the Sip & Support flyer for the organization to receive credit. 

It’s a simple setup, but it gives local groups a way to bring people together while raising funds. 

Party Packages for Groups and Private Events

The Cantina has party packages for guests who want to celebrate birthdays, bachelor or bachelorette parties, company outings, happy hours, and other group gatherings.

There are three main options:

• Small Parties & Celebrations: Best for groups of up to 15 guests, with a reserved table in a non-private setting.
• Outdoor Patio Rental: Includes the outdoor patio space, an outside bar with a dedicated bartender, and room arranged for the group’s needs. This option can host up to 75 guests.
• The Whole Cantina: Includes the inside bar and outdoor patio, along with staff and door support. This option is date and event specific and can host up to 200 guests.

The party package availability runs daily from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
