Lewes in Bloom is calling all garden lovers to join its annual tulip dig on Saturday, April 26.
Starting promptly at 8 a.m., rain or shine, this beloved spring tradition invites the public to dig up tulip bulbs from 27 gardens across Lewes.
What You Need to Know
If you’re planning to participate, here’s what to bring and expect:
- Bring gloves, trowels, and bags
- Shovels are not allowed to avoid damage to irrigation systems
- Members will be present to guide participants
- The tulip dig excludes the flowering barrels on Second Street
Why It Matters
Last fall, Lewes in Bloom volunteers planted a stunning estimate of 31,000 tulips.
Now that the blooms have dazzled the community, it’s time to make room for summer annuals.
By participating, you can bring home tulip bulbs to plant in your own garden and enjoy again next spring.
Lewes in Bloom, a nonprofit organization, focuses on enhancing and maintaining the beauty of Lewes through volunteer-driven gardening opportunities.
Events like the annual tulip dig event support this mission, and connect residents with the city’s green spaces.
