Fall weekend plans are coming together at Hopkins Farm in Lewes!

The farm will host three days of food, music, local vendors, activities, and agricultural education, with the annual Lace Up for Ag Literacy 5K taking place Saturday morning.

Three Days of Fall Festival Fun

The 2026 Hopkins Farm Fall Festival takes place Friday, October 9th, through Sunday, October 11th, at 18186 Dairy Farm Road in Lewes.

Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, with plenty happening throughout the farm, including live music, local vendors, food, ice cream, agricultural education, and family friendly activities. 

Visitors will also have opportunities to learn more about farming and the organizations working to support agriculture across Delaware.

Smokin D’z BBQ, Heslep’s Coastal Cattle, Delaware Farm Bureau, Delaware 4-H, Delaware FFA, Dogfish Head, Seashore Striders, and other local partners are expected to be part of the weekend.

Dogfish Head beer and cocktails will be available during the festival, with proceeds supporting the American Center for Farming Heritage.

Lace Up for Ag Literacy 5K 

Saturday morning brings back the Annual Lace Up for Ag Literacy 5K Run and Walk, with the race supporting the Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation. 

The 5K starts at 9 a.m., rain or shine, with day of registration opening at 7:30 a.m. and the Healthy Kids Run kicking things off at 8:50 a.m.

The course keeps things very much on the farm, taking runners and walkers through the pastures, past hay bales and the barn, through the covered bridge, around the pond, and back toward Hopkins Farm Creamery for the finish.

It is a Seashore Striders chip-timed event, and every participant receives a 2026 Lace Up for Ag 5K Run and Walk long sleeve shirt. 

Awards will go to the overall male, female, and masters winners, along with age group winners, the top five male and female walkers, and all Kiddie K finishers.

Put Together a Team for a Local School or Agricultural Group

There is also a team challenge connected to this year’s 5K. 

The team with the most participants will receive a $200 gift certificate to the National Ag in the Classroom store.

The winning team can donate the certificate to a school or educational organization, FFA chapter, or 4-H group of its choice, adding another way for race participants to support agricultural education beyond the registration itself.

Supporting Agricultural Education in Delaware

Proceeds from the 5K benefit the Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation, which works to increase awareness and understanding of Delaware agriculture while promoting local food and supporting agricultural education.

The foundation also sponsors the Ag Education Mobile Classroom and partners with the New Castle, Kent, and Sussex County Farm Bureaus to raise funds for educational programs and materials.

About Hopkins Farm Creamery

If you have never been to Hopkins Farm Creamery, the Fall Festival is also a good excuse to check out one of Lewes’ best known farm stops.

The creamery makes its ice cream right on the farm, with more than 25 flavors that include longtime favorites and rotating seasonal options. 

Beyond scoops, Hopkins also offers ice cream cakes, pies, sandwiches, and treats for celebrations and special occasions.

The farm hosts birthday parties, school visits, weddings, and other events throughout the year, so it has grown into more than just a place to grab ice cream. 

Part of the experience is simply spending time on the property, enjoying the farm setting, and seeing where everything comes together.
