Dover’s NASCAR Weekend to Offer More Than Just Racing

NASCAR fans heading to Dover Motor Speedway this July will experience more than just high-speed action on the track.

With race weekend coinciding with the Delaware State Fair and peak beach season, visitors can take advantage of two free daily shuttles to explore more of what Delaware has to offer.

A Unique Summer Experience

From Thursday, July 17, to Sunday, July 20, Dover Motor Speedway and the Delaware Tourism Office are partnering to provide racegoers with convenient access to two major summer attractions:

  • Delaware State Fair – A classic summer fair featuring rides, concerts, and local vendors.
  • Rehoboth Beach – A perfect spot to enjoy local restaurants, the boardwalk, and ocean views.

The shuttles will depart from Dover Motor Speedway, stopping at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand and the Delaware State Fairgrounds before returning in time for Friday and Saturday’s races.

Introducing Miles Beachimage (10)

A brand-new addition to this year’s event is Miles Beach, presented by Visit Delaware, a beach-themed attraction in the Fan Zone. Spanning over an acre, Miles Beach will offer:

  • 600 tons of sand, creating an authentic beach setting with palm trees, Adirondack chairs, and a 25-foot lighthouse.
  • The World’s Largest Rubber Duck, a 60-foot-tall, 15.5-ton attraction perfect for photo ops.
  • A Delaware-style boardwalk, replicating the iconic experience of the state’s beach towns.
  • Live entertainment, including music, NASCAR driver appearances, and interactive performances.
  • White Lightning Bar + Arcade, featuring classic arcade games and a full bar.
  • Beach-themed food and drinks, such as Delaware’s famous orange crushes, boardwalk fries, and Dolle’s saltwater taffy.
  • A giant sand sculpture, crafted on-site by a talented artist and unveiled on Sunday.

Enhancing the Race Weekend Experience

Jessica Welch, director of the Delaware Tourism Office, sees this as a great opportunity to showcase the state’s summer attractions to new visitors.

“So maybe in the future, they’ll come back outside of race weekend and visit the state,” Welch said.

Gary Camp, VP of marketing and communications for Dover Motor Speedway, emphasized that the majority of race attendees—around 89%—come from out of state, and this initiative aims to highlight all that Delaware has to offer in hopes of encouraging longer stays in the future.

Plan Ahead for the Shuttle

While the shuttle service is free, online registration through the speedway’s website is required to secure a spot.
