Do you live in Delaware? Are you looking to reduce waste and enrich your garden at the same time?

Delawareans have a great opportunity to purchase compost bins, rain barrels, and other conservation accessories at discounted prices, thanks to a promotion by the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC).

Through bulk purchasing, DNREC is able to offer these items at reduced rates until Thursday, April 3rd for all Delaware residents. Orders can be placed online.

Why Composting Matters

Composting is an effective way to manage food scraps and yard waste while producing organic material that enhances overall soil health. By composting, you can:

  • Reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills
  • Lower trash disposal costs and curbside waste
  • Improve garden soil naturally, reducing the need for store-bought fertilizers and soil

According to Tim Ratsep, director of DNREC’s Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances, this promotion offers an excellent chance for residents to start composting and enjoy the benefits of nutrient-rich soil for their home gardens.

How to Get Your Discounted Compost Bin

DNREC has partnered with BrandBuilders, a state-contracted vendor, to facilitate the sale.

Sussex County residents who place orders can pick up their composting supplies on Saturday, April 5th, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Sussex Central High School, located at 26026 Patriots Way, Georgetown.
