The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has confirmed this date will not be extended an is urging everyone to take action early..

What is a REAL ID and Why It Matters

  • Boarding domestic commercial flights
  • Entering federal buildings

REAL ID-compliant IDs are easily identifiable by a gold star in the top right corner.

Who Needs to Take Action

According to Delaware’s Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV):

  • No action is needed for individuals who already have a gold star on their license or ID.
  • If there’s no gold star, the credential is not REAL ID-compliant, and action is required.

To upgrade, Delawareans can visit any DMV location—no appointment necessary and walk-ins encouraged.
