Dog owners in Delaware now have a more convenient way to license their pets, and a better shot at bringing them home if they go missing.

The Office of Animal Welfare (OAW) has partnered with DocuPet, a pet registration provider, to launch a new statewide online dog licensing and lost pet recovery system.

How It Works

  • Register your dog online through the DocuPet platform
  • Receive a uniquely coded ID tag linked to a secure pet profile
  • If your pet goes missing, create a Lost Pet Report instantly
  • Anyone who finds your dog can use the code to submit a Found Pet Report
  • A 24/7 dispatch team helps reunite pets and their families

“This program will be extremely valuable to dog owners and necessary for animal safety within the state,” said OAW Director Christina Motoyoshi.

Licensing also reduces shelter overcrowding and supports critical community services.

Dog licensing is required by law in Delaware for all dogs aged six months and older and must be accompanied by proof of rabies vaccination.

Key Benefits and Incentives

  • No late fees for expired licenses until July 15, 2025
  • Promo code “LICENSES” gives $5 off designer tags
  • Choose from standard or customizable tag designs
  • Helps keep pets and communities safe
