Several new spots have popped up over the past year, especially along Route 1 and near the northern beach towns.

Surf Bagel 

This popular local chain continues its expansion with a new Fenwick Island location at the former Dairy Queen site.

Palm Beach Bar & Grill

Located in the Midway Shopping Center, this tropical-themed restaurant is the first full-service venture by the owners of First State Corn & More.

Menu highlights include Caribbean-spiced ribs, Cuban sandwich, crispy corn “ribs”, and the Haitian pork with plantains.

Veranda Restaurant & Bar

Located inside the Cambria Hotel near Route 24, this upscale eatery serves Mediterranean-inspired dishes in a stylish, hotel-dining atmosphere.

Menu includes: Mussels in white wine, Crab bruschetta, Branzino, Seafood alfredo, and more!

First State Brewing Company 

Returning Cape Henlopen alum Paul Hester brings experimental beers and a full menu to this large new location, which occupies the former TGI Fridays space.

SoHo Slice

Replacing Atlantic Social, this new pizza joint offers wood-fired pies and Italian small plates, all served with a New York flair.

Don't miss the smoked burrata salad under a glass dome, or the foldable, four-slice pizzas!

Surfin’ Betty’s Burger Bar 

Originally from Ocean City, this burger joint brings dry-aged beef and gourmet hotdogs to Bethany Beach.

Abbott’s Grill at Paynter’s Mill 

This spot may be new to beachgoers who haven’t visited since last summer. With a diverse, budget-friendly menu, Abbott’s is a local favorite just off Route 1.
